Dear Friends,
Greetings from Elkhorn in the new year of 2021. Challenging times are said to build character, and it seems that our buckets flow over these days. Day to day life here at the ranch rolls along fairly normally given our secluded location. When people ask, “how’s business,” the word intimate comes to mind. Our group each week has been very small, but the nature of life has been that of extra gratitude and time together. We are thankful for their presence and they appreciate the seclusion, camaraderie and outdoor retreat.
Our Covid-Care program has been well supported by our guests and crew. The heated tent over the picnic tables and fire table heaters on the patio have been a great hit. Our entire holiday celebration was moved outdoors, including the tree! Masks, gloves, shields, distance and the great outdoors are the fences that make good neighbors these days. Speaking of which, we would like to send a special shout out to the team at NAK masks ~ a local Tucson textile studio and think tank that takes Covid safety seriously and makes it comfortable and fun. NAK is our mask of choice. This company is an outstanding example of resilience and excellence in response to our times!
Many January and February guests have delayed or rescheduled their Elkhorn vacation. While we miss everyone greatly, we respect their decision. During this challenging stretch, we are offering some opportunities to visit with reduced rates ~ visit our website to learn about the SCHOOLCATION2021 and SECLUSION2021 specials.
It has always been our tradition to visit about plans for the following year as guests leave and that is tricky this year. We are contacting people around your usual visiting week to make plans for next season; thus continuing our strategy of booking reservations a year in advance. Our usual creative workshop weeks will take place next year, and we’re working on a few new offerings! We are definitely looking ahead to next season and hope you’ll be here with us!
Our 75th celebration season may be different than expected, but we are grateful for it! The scrapbook will be constructed by ranch elves in February. If you’ve been meaning to send some photos or thoughts, the time is NOW! You can also get into the ranch spirit by visiting our new online General Store to purchase special 75th attire or a fleece blanket, perfect for visiting with friends outdoors.
Many people have helped the ranch and our crew this season by giving extra crew fund, allowing the ranch to keep the deposit for cancelled reservations, and sending funds for horse feed. We are grateful and thankful!
We all send love to you and your family and your pod! Be well!
Love,
All the Millers and the Elkhorn Crew
