FUN AROUND THE RANCH

There’s plenty to enjoy around Elkhorn Ranch between horseback rides and hikes, making outdoor activities and relaxation a big part of the ranch vacation experience. Children have the freedom to explore, play outdoors, and enjoy hours of unstructured fun in the fresh air.

Those who don’t ride, from the very young to elders, enjoy strolls, Arizona sunshine, reading, play and the companionship of other guests.

The tennis and pickleball courts appeal to all ages, and double as a half court basketball play area. Shuffleboard, ping pong and horseshoes provide for more outdoor play.

Kids enjoy the freedom of old fashioned play around the ranch buildings during the day and after dinner, with games of tag, kick the can, and the like.

A cupboard of puzzles and games are available for indoor play. The Miller family train set is brought out especially for toddler age kids. Experience the pleasure of burying your nose in a good book. The ranch library in the dining room has titles for all ages plus each cabin has its own mini library.

The spaciousness of the Elkhorn experience can be good for enjoying your own hobbies ~ playing music, drawing or writing. Borrow the ranch guitar or ukelele or make music on the piano in the dining room! Try a workshop week!

Bird feeders and bird water at all the cabins attract birds and wildlife into the ranch buildings. There are many natural history guides and books about local flora and fauna in the ranch and cabin libraries.

Birds and cottontail bunnies frequent the bird watering spots around the cabins. You may find yourself becoming a birder!

An Elkhorn Ranch dude ranch vacation is a wonderful setting for a multi-generation family gathering or a reunion of friends. Meals draw everyone together throughout the day, yet everyone can choose their own activities and rhythm.
